Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Post-Election Security Situation (July 28, 2015)

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

The U.S. Embassy in Burundi constantly reviews its security posture and makes changes based on current situations. At this time, the Embassy has removed its curfew for mission personnel and is not restricting movement within Bujumbura during daylight hours. However there is still a risk for violence and U.S. citizens who have decided to stay in Burundi should review the Burundi Travel Warning issued on May 14 as well as their personal security situation and seriously consider departing, taking advantage of commercial flights.

Please contact us at BujumburaC@state.gov if you need assistance departing Burundi so that we may assess potential options for assisting you.
