Message for U.S. Citizens: Town Hall Meeting May 11, 2015 – Rescheduled To Begin at 14:00 (May 10, 2015)

U.S. citizens, their spouses, and children over the age of 16, are invited to a Town Hall Meeting for the U.S. citizen community in Burundi, on Monday, May 11, 2015. The meeting, originally scheduled to begin at 13:00 p.m., will now commence at 14:00 p.m.

We will be discussing the current security environment. The meeting will be held at the U.S. Embassy situated on the corner of Avenue des Etats-Unis and Avenue du Cinquantenaire in Kigobe. Entry will be through the main gate (not the consular service gate).

Please note that you will be required to show your U.S. Passport at the gate prior to being allowed entry to the embassy. There will be a security check and all personal effects will be screened so you may prefer to leave valuables at home. You will not be able to bring electronics, such as cell phones, into the embassy. There will be limited parking provided. Please consider carpooling if possible. If you have security concerns about your route to the embassy, do not come to the meeting. The Consular Section will provide a copy of the information discussed via email to anyone who is unable to attend.
