Bujumbura, Burundi – December 6, 2023 – The Embassy of the United States in Bujumbura is pleased to announce a Joint Field Training Exercise, in collaboration with the Burundi National Police, scheduled for December 8, 2023, from 0800 to 1300. The exercise will take place in and around the U.S. Embassy compound located in Kigobe. Please anticipate road closures around the Embassy area between these hours.

This annual training event is an integral part of our commitment to enhancing security and safety in the region. The Embassy’s security personnel, along with our esteemed counterparts from the Burundi National Police and Civil Protection, come together for this planned exercise, reinforcing our strong partnership.

We ask the residents of Bujumbura to remain calm and not be alarmed during the exercise. There may be alarm sounds as part of the training; however, these are part of the scheduled activities and pose no threat to the public.

The primary goal of this joint training exercise is to foster a positive and cooperative relationship between our Embassy security team and the Burundian National Police and Civil Protection. By working together, we aim to continually enhance safety and security within the community.
