Jennifer Duval is the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bujumbura, Burundi.
Before her arrival in Burundi, Ms. Duval was detailed to the Department of Defense, serving first as the Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the Director of Strategy, Plans and Programs at U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany and then as the Regional Director for the Trans-Sahel in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy, International Security Affairs/Africa, at the Pentagon.
She previously served as the Consul General at U.S. Embassy Dublin, Ireland (2008-2011); as a Management Officer at U.S. Embassy Baghdad, Iraq (2007-2008); as the Deputy Consul General at U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince, Haiti (2004-2007); as the Visa Chief at the U.S. Consulate General in Naples, Italy (2003-2004); and as the Cultural Attaché at U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince, Haiti (2001-2003). Earlier in her career she served in Montreal, Canada, and in the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center in Washington, DC.
Prior to joining the Department of State, Ms. Duval had a career in high-technology public relations in Silicon Valley. She holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of the Pacific and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
